Dominican Republic participates in Virtual Conference ASCEND 2020

The Northeast United States Tourism Promotion Office sponsored the general section of the event organized by ALG Vacations Group

For the second consecutive year, the Office of Tourism Promotion (OPT) of the Dominican Republic of the Northeast of the United States sponsored the general section of the ASCEND 2020 Annual Conference of the ALG Vacations Group, which was attended by professionals from the industry.

Hotel chains, airlines, tour operators, travel agents, and institutional representatives of the main tourist destinations participated in it, where they discussed and shared strategies against the global crisis that the sector is going through.

ALGV ASCEND is an activity organized by TTOO ALGV Vacations and represented by its brands: Apple Vacations, Funjet Vacations, United Vacations, SouthWest Vacations, CheapCaribbean and Travel Impressions.

The conference design facilitated the realization of live work sessions, helped to create interactive booths for exhibitors and promoted all kinds of synergies / collaborations between the official representatives of the countries and the more than two thousand travel agents who were present. on the platform.

Lucien Echavarría, director of the OPT based in New York, gave the conference where he detailed the set of actions and new protocols implemented by the Dominican political-health authorities in airports, hotels and transportation in the country.

Echavarría in her speech highlighted the creation of a medical insurance whose objective is to guarantee adequate health care to all tourists who visit the island, valid until December 31, 2020.

Likewise, the official informed the participating entities that the Dominican Republic has the international certification of the VERITAS Bureau and SAFE TRAVELS in charge of observing full compliance with sanitary protocols.

During the event, the Dominican Republic showed its firm will to maintain the tourism leadership position it occupies in the Caribbean region and demonstrated its ability to develop proposals that limit the uncertainty caused by the Covid-19 pandemic.
