Dominican Republic secures promising agreements at Miami Trade Show
Miami, US.- The Trade Show organized by the Ministry of Tourism culminated in Miami, sealing 42 agreements between tour operators and travel agents from both the Dominican Republic and the Americas. These agreements are expected to usher in more than 4 million tourists throughout the remainder of the year.
Notable among the agreements is the collaboration involving Punta Bergantin in Puerto Plata, which brings together the Karisma and Hyatt hotel chains with support from Banreservas. Additionally, renewals were made with various lines, areas, and travel agencies from the United States, Canada, and Latin American countries, collectively constituting the primary source of tourists to the Dominican Republic.
The formalizations were carried out in close coordination with the private sector and over 70 co-exhibitors, who engaged in face-to-face interactions with tourism representatives from the Americas. Participants unanimously agreed that the fair witnessed significant attendance and expressed the need to extend its duration next year, as a single day proved insufficient.
The fair showcased not only tourism but also highlighted golf and diving sports tourism, along with the growing trend of wedding plans within the sector.
In addition to business engagements, attendees had the opportunity to experience facets of Dominican culture through exhibitions featuring dance, coffee, tobacco, cocoa, and gastronomy, particularly the traditional sweets of the country.
Minister David Collado, reflecting on the successful conclusion of the event, anticipates a substantial increase in tourist arrivals in 2024, with estimates exceeding 11 million visitors.
