DR expects to exceed one million tourists from Canada after open skies agreement
The interim director of the Dominican Civil Aviation Institute (IDAC), Héctor Porcella, informed that the projection of the aeronautical sector, after the signing of the open skies agreement between the Dominican Republic and Canada, is to surpass the one million Canadian tourists visiting the country this year 2023.
“The signing of the agreement will help a lot so that we can have more flights from Canada to the DR because the referred nation is the second most important issuer of tourists to the Caribbean country,” he added.
He recalled that last year 2022 more than 715,000 Canadian tourists chose the DR for their vacations and therefore the projections are high and ambitious.
“The greater the connectivity, the greater the number of tourists and that translates into very positive benefits for the country,” said Porcella.
