Expedia rewards the DR for the “best tourism promotion campaign”
Expedia Group recognized the country as the best campaign to promote the tourism sector in all of Latin America for the period 2021-2022. To this end, executives of the group presented a plaque, as part of the celebration of DATE 2022, which was received by the president, Luis Abinader; David Collado, Minister of Tourism and Rafael Blanco Tejera, President of the Association of Hotels and Tourism (Asonahores).
The event was attended by Freddy Domínguez, vice president for Latin America and the Caribbean of the travel agency, and Miriam Hernández, director of Market Management in the Caribbean.
Domínguez said that Expedia is responsible for 25% of the arrival of American tourists to the Dominican Republic, which “makes us probably the main tourist company in the country, so the DR is our second most important country in Latin America. The travel company said to reach Expedia travelers and drive bookings in the region, the Dominican Republic worked with Expedia Group Media Solutions on an agile campaign that featured a dedicated microsite with personalized itineraries for different traveler personas and a branded video shared displaying the region, as well as social content, email marketing, and native ads.
The campaign was a huge success, contributing to over 40% of arrivals in the Dominican Republic in August 2021, generating a 110:1 return on ad spend and delivering over 30 million impressions and a CTR of 0. 13%.
