Minister David Collado received recognition for the Dominican Republic’s recovery above other countries in the region
SANTO DOMINGO. -Dominican tourism continues to reap international success, receiving two important awards in France and Italy for its excellent recovery.
In the framework of the IFTM TOP RESA, the main business fair in France, which brings together each year the main sectors of the leisure industry, business travel, MICE and groups, Minister David Collado received recognition for the recovery of the Dominican Republic above other countries in the region and for its management of the pandemic and a successful tourism year as the first destination in long-distance package sales in France.
The president of Les Entreprises du Voyage, Jean Pierre Mas, presented the award to Collado, noting that this is the first recognition he has given to a country.
Les Entreprises du Voyage is the largest association in Europe, bringing together 3,500 travel agents.
Likewise, in Italy, the president of Astoi, Pier Ezhaya, awarded the Dominican Republic the 2022 trophy of honor for its exemplary management of the Covid crisis. Astoi represents 90% of the Tour Operators’ total turnover.
Minister Collado thanked the recognitions on behalf of the Dominican Government and said that the Dominican Republic continues to work to strengthen and diversify its tourism offer worldwide.
“These two important awards are a major commitment to continue working and continue to be the leader of tourism in the region,” said Collado.
