Health tourism already has its technical regulations in the Dominican Republic
The Dominican Institute for Quality (Indocal) is working on the elaboration of a standardization for medical tourism, as the country has become a reference in the health industry, which moves approximately 10 billion pesos annually.
In this regard, the general director of Indocal, Lorenzo Ramirez, said that the approval of the standard was achieved last week and work is underway on a certification scheme to offer the service to health service providers with the support of the Ministries of Tourism and Public Health, medical centers and the Health Tourism Cluster.
He indicated that the goal is for a regulation to be created and for the centers to be obliged to be certified with the standard, according to Hoy.
He emphasized that having certified companies increases the degree of security for tourists who choose to come to the Dominican Republic to receive medical tourism services.
