Iberostar hotels & resorts present at DATE 2022
The hotel chain presents novelties, the five-star Iberostar Heritage Las Mercedes hotel stands out, which plans to open its doors in the second half of 2023
Iberostar Hotels & Resorts was once again present at the Dominican Annual Tourism Exchange 2022 (DATE), which is being held from May 11 to 13 in Bávaro, Punta Cana.
Tour operators, travel agents and the press from different issuing markets attending the fair were received at the stand and all the novelties of the hotel chain were presented. Present at the stand were Yoanki Jesús Nieves, Marketing Director for the Dominican Republic and LATAM, and Samuel Abreu, Marketing Executive.
The Iberostar Group arrived in the Dominican Republic 29 years ago and since then has had a firm commitment to the destination where it currently has 7 hotels and around 5,500 beds distributed between Puerto Plata (Iberostar Costa Dorada), Bayahibe (Iberostar Selection Hacienda Dominicus) and Punta Cana. (Iberostar Grand Bávaro, Coral Level at Iberostar Selection Bávaro, Iberostar Selection Bávaro Suites, Iberostar Dominicana and Iberostar Punta Cana).
Among the novelties of the hotel chain, the five-star Iberostar Heritage Las Mercedes hotel stands out, which plans to open its doors in the second half of 2023. This new hotel, in the construction phase, is located in the Colonial City, declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Humanity by UNESCO in 1990. A few steps from the Plaza de España, the hotel is located on Las Mercedes street between the Church of Our Lady of Altagracia and the ruins of the Monastery of San Francisco. The hotel will have 131 rooms that will be distributed over five floors. It will also have a restaurant and a chill out bar with a terrace, swimming pool and solarium, a complete and modern spa and gym; in addition to a convention and events center and a business center area.
En el marco del evento, se expusieron los avances logrados en el movimiento Wave of Change donde Grupo Iberostar continúa impulsando dinámicas para seguir liderando un modelo de turismo responsable y ha fijado nuevas metas consolidadas a través de su Agenda 2030. Para 2022 cuenta con hasta 15 objetivos divididos entre las tres áreas de acción: avanzar hacia un modelo de economía circular, promover un consumo responsable de pescado y marisco, y mejorar la salud costera de todos los ecosistemas que rodean sus instalaciones. Para ello ha creado este año departamentos 3R (reduce, reuse, recycle) en todos sus hoteles y sigue avanzando para ser libre de residuos en el año 2025 y neutral en huella de carbono en 2030.
During the fair, it was highlighted that the sales of Iberostar hotels in the Dominican Republic exceeded the figures compared to the same period in 2019. The source markets that occupy the most important positions are: the United States, Germany, Argentina, Spain, Canada, the Republic Dominican (local market), France and Switzerland. Similarly, the growth achieved (compared to the same period of the previous year) by Spain (+300%), Argentina (+50%) and the Dominican Republic (local market) (+43%) was highlighted.
