IDAC: aeronautical sector is growing at the pace of tourism
The interim general director of the Dominican Institute of Civil Aviation (IDAC), Héctor Porcella, declared that the country’s aeronautical sector is firmly aligned with the tourism development strategy, outlined by the tourism cabinet headed by President Luis Abinader and Minister David Hill.
He affirmed that until September 2022, the flow of passengers by air to the Dominican Republic had established historical records, on the way to the country reaching the mark of 7 million tourists in a single year for the first time.
He recalled that the DR was one of the first countries in the world to recover the level of air traffic prior to the Covid-19 pandemic, thanks to the strategy of capturing new markets carried out by Minister Collado and the approval of new airlines. national and international and the opening of new routes with different destinations and countries.
The director made the statement at the opening ceremony of the 34th edition of the Asonahores 2022 Commercial Exhibition, where the IDAC put into service a flight simulator with the presence of Minister Collado, Rafael Blanco Tejera, president of Asonahores; the new United States Consul General, Greg Segas, who made a virtual flight on the device provided by the Superior Academy of Aeronautical Sciences (ASCA).
