IDAC chief: ICAO symposium benefits aviation, tourism
Santo Domingo.- The Dominican Republic hosted the Global Implementation Symposium of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), a milestone for the country’s aviation sector and its standing as the Caribbean’s premier tourist destination.
Héctor Porcella, Director General of the Dominican Institute of Civil Aviation (IDAC), emphasized this significance during his concluding remarks at the prestigious event, attended by over 900 delegates worldwide.
Porcella highlighted the wealth of experiences gained, contributions made, and lessons learned, all poised to further solidify recent progress and maintain the country’s regional leadership.
He expressed gratitude to ICAO’s leadership, headed by President Salvatore Sciacchitano and Secretary General Juan Carlos Salazar, for their trust in the Dominican Republic. Notably, Porcella thanked President Luis Abinader and Minister of Tourism David Collado for their support, alongside various aeronautical and private sector partners.
Acknowledging the honor of hosting the Symposium, Porcella congratulated the United Arab Emirates on securing the 2025 edition. Despite weather challenges during the event in Punta Cana, he extended warm invitations for future visits, underscoring the Dominican people’s hospitality and the allure of their beaches.
In a fitting conclusion, Porcella was recognized by ICAO’s leadership for his effective leadership in orchestrating the Symposium and fostering collaboration across national aviation and hospitality sectors.
