Santo Domingo.- The Dominican Institute of Civil Aviation (IDAC) announced the key themes for the upcoming III World Symposium on Support for the Implementation of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO). Representatives from all 195 ICAO member countries will gather in the tourist hub of Punta Cana to discuss these critical topics.
IDAC Director General Héctor Porcella outlined the agenda, which will range from developing modern airport infrastructure to crisis preparedness and advanced air mobility. Discussions will also explore the role of air transport in fueling tourism growth.
A key focus will be on proposals for future aeronautical development. The symposium will delve into the importance of emerging technologies for effective training programs and competency-based approaches to prepare a skilled and adaptable aviation workforce for the years to come.
The debates will also focus on the “Finvest Hub” initiative proposed by ICAO, which emphasizes the need to increase collaboration between the aviation sector and financial institutions to meet the goal of decarbonizing aviation by 2050.
The meeting, which will take place for the first time in the Americas, will be held from April 30 to May 2 at the Barceló Bávaro Convention Center in Punta Cana.
The symposium aims to showcase the latest digital tools developed by ICAO. It will also highlight the organization’s main initiatives and collaborative efforts to strengthen aviation resilience, foster innovation, promote sustainable development, and offer new operational solutions for the benefit of participating countries.
In addition to participating in discussions with aviation experts, Member States will have the opportunity to explore the latest industry products and services, hand in hand with sponsors and exhibitors.
The symposium is open to all aviation-related entities, including ministries, Civil Aviation Directorates General, international and regional organizations, aviation service providers, financial and development institutions, academic institutions, industry partners, and other stakeholders.
