La Romana – Bayahibe destination with the highest hotel occupancy in the Dominican Republic

The Dominican Republic registers in the first five months of 2019 an average rate of hotel occupancy of 81.3% according to the results provided and obtained by Infotur Dominicano of the statistics prepared by the National Association of Hotels and Tourism of the Dominican Republic (Asonahores ), vice technical ministry of the Ministry of Tourism (Mitur) and the Central Bank of the Dominican Republic (BCRD).

In this sense, this average is obtained from the sum of the statistics in May, the month that recorded 70.4, being the month with the lowest occupation in these five while in April it registered an average of 79.5%, while in March the occupation was 84.3%, February was 89.1% and January was 82.7%.

In these five months, the La Romana – Bayahibe destination remains with 88.8, the same registered as the leading destination in average percentage occupancy in 2019.

Punta Cana – Bávaro with 86.2% occupies the second position on average, followed by Samaná with an average rate in the first four months of 79.5 percent.

They continue in the same order: Boca Chica – Juan Dolio which is placed in the third destination with the highest average occupancy in the three months, a rate of 73.5%; Sosúa – Cabarete with an occupancy rate of 69.2%; Puerto Plata 68.8%; Santo Domingo with an average of 63.2%, and Santiago with an average rate of 61.3 percent.

In comparison with the occupancy rate of May 2018, which was 75.9%, this has decreased by 5.8 percent.
