Marranzini highlights international buyer participation grows 37 % DATE 2023

PUNTA CANA, D.R. April 27, 2023 – The participation of international delegates in the Dominican Annual Tourism Exchange (DATE 2023) increased by 37%, a “reflection of this increase is the result of the maturity achieved by Dominican tourism,” said the executive vice president of ASONAHORES, speaking at the opening ceremony of the event held last night at the Dreams Flora hotel.

In the 2022 edition, 5,400 business appointments were registered, explained Andrés Marranzini Grullón, and compared this figure with the 7,485 of the fair that began last night, which is being attended by 270 representatives of 160 companies that market the Dominican tourism product in the different markets.

This year, he said, “once again, our tourism is doing well”, and the international delegates “will be able to see our booming tourism, and meet with highly professional suppliers that offer a product with an unbeatable quality/price ratio”.

Marranzini considered that these numbers confirm something very important, which is the “successful work carried out between the public and private sectors in the efforts to promote the destination”, confirming “the value of the Dominican Republic product in the markets”, and also show that the executive team of ASONAHORES has done its job.

If we make history, said Marranzini, we will remember that this fair was held 24 years ago in the events area of a hotel in Santo Domingo, and today, “there are no facilities in other regions outside Punta Cana with the required conditions to accommodate us”; a clear indicator that DATE, “follows the steps to the sustained growth of the industry”.

He suggested that consideration be given to inaugurating the convention center that is being planned in Santo Domingo, with an edition of DATE.

Marranzini thanked the support of the Ministry of Tourism and the presence of Minister David Collado and the directors of the tourism promotion offices abroad. Also the social activities that promote the exchange of participants, organized by Barceló Hotels & Resorts, Dreams Flora Resort & Spa, Secrets Royal Beach Punta Cana, Temptation Miches Resorts, Puntacana Resort & Club, Casa de Campo Resort & Villas, Cana Rock, Katmandu Park Punta Cana and Meliá Hotels International.

He thanked the sponsors and mentioned the list: Ministry of Tourism, Banco BHD, Banco de Reservas, Banco Popular Dominicano, BANDEX, Banesco, CEPM, CODELPA, Coral Hospitality Corp, Finamer Business Corp, Grumasa Grupo Martinon, Grupo PUNTACANA, IMCA, Katmandu Punta Cana, Meliá Hotels International, Miches Temtaptions Resorts, Renny Travel, RIU, Visanet, Sol Bus, Barceló Hotels & Resorts, Dreams Flora Resort & Spa.
