MITUR holds Border Security work table in the Enriquillo area

The Ministry of Tourism met with different government entities in order to learn about the progress of the Strategic Plan for Border Security and Migration Control that will be developed in the Enriquillo region that will include Bahoruco, Barahona and Pedernales. This as part of the sectorial plans to support the Pedernales Province Tourism Development Plan.

The team that makes up the working table held its second meeting at the headquarters of the Ministry of Tourism, it was led by Carlos Peguero, vice minister of International Cooperation of MITUR and Executive director of the Tourism Development Plan of the province of Pedernales.

In it they highlighted that the project is in the preparatory phase of the integral security of the region and that one of the objectives it pursues is to make the tourist feel safe, protected and supported.

“What we are doing is anticipating any type of situation that may arise in different aspects and that we can before having the solutions occurs,” but also have contingency plans and programs for these situations, said Peguero, vice minister of MITUR .

The representatives of the General Directorate of Migration, Silvestre Ventura Collado, Deputy Director General and Satcha Aguiar, Director of Development Planning, indicated that they will ensure compliance with the law and will make the process of paperwork and documentation an easier, modern and efficient alternative .

Another of the issues they addressed is that the workforce that has to do with the development of Pedernales, mostly Dominican men and women and second order foreigners who are duly regularized, respecting the dignity of the workers and of human rights.

It is estimated that for the month of June the results of the security plan will begin to be seen, the date on which the president, Luis Abinader, will give the first pie in the Pedernales area.

Among the institutions that are supporting this project and that will have direct responsibility are; Ministry of Tourism, Ministry of Labor, General Directorate of Migration, Specialized Body in Border Security (CESFRONT), the Army of the Dominican Republic, the Dominican Navy, Ministry of Public Health, Institute of Civil Aviation, the Specialized Body of Tourism Security (CESTUR ), among other.

At the meeting of the work table, in addition to the Vice Minister Peguero and the representatives of Migration, they were present; Brigadier General Santo Domingo Guerrero Class, Director of Operations and Plans of the Ministry of Defense; Colonel Elqui Silverio, Executive Officer of (CESFRONT); Julián Mateo Jesús, Vice Minister for Inspections of the Ministry of Labor, among others.
