New parks and tourst excursions association to be launched at Date 2023

The Dominican Association of Parks and Tourist Excursions (Adopetur) was created with the aim of promoting and strengthening the Dominican tourism industry, an entity that seeks to develop a complementary offer of parks, fun and adventure for visitors.

Adopetur was presented this Friday by its president, Carlos Medrano, at a press conference during the Dominican Annual Tourism Exchange (Date 2023), held at the convention center of the Barceló Bávaro Grand Resort in Punta Cana.

Medrano explained that the entity seeks to contribute to the professional development of the sector, study and recommend means to promote, defend the interests and welfare of the Dominican tourism industry and position the complementary offer of parks and excursions, adventure and ecotourism.

“Our entity comes to strengthen the work of associating us to propose and promote strategies for the development and growth of the tourist segment of parks and excursions to be a differentiating and decisive element when the visitor chooses a vacation destination,” said Medrano.

He indicated that among the objectives of Adopetur is to encourage the growth of national recreational and excursion tourism, leading the coordination with related entities of the parks and excursions industry.

He stated that Adopetur intends to incorporate all the specialized operators in order to formalize, professionalize and certify the services they offer.

During the press conference, Medrano presented the board of directors of the entity, a group of businessmen committed to the interests of the commercial activity, and to promote the development of the industry with a vision of sustainability “of our natural, cultural and social heritage”.

“We believe that in order to continue growing in international visitor arrivals it is necessary to develop new hotel projects and complementary products to meet the additional demand, diversify the destinations and support the growth of the tourism sector, the most important sector of the Dominican economy,” said the directors.

Adopetur’s board of directors is composed of Carlos Medrano Vargas, president; Francisco Javier Moreno Nigorra, vice president; Bernhard Rolf Knirsch, treasurer; Birgitt Heinsen, vice treasurer; Ángel González, secretary; Jesús Edmundo Sánchez Bates, vice secretary; and as directors Anthony José González, John Nicanor Vásquez, Edmundo Aja, Juan Tomas Díaz Infante, Simón Hirst, Carlos Cobiella, and Claudio Natella.

The 13 entities that make up Adopetur, all dedicated to park activities and tourist excursions, are Luna Tours Runners Adventure Park, Dolphin Island Park, Bávaro Adventure Park, Ocean World, Nature River Park, Scape Park, Dolphin Discovery Marinarium Park, Reptours Dominicana, Punta Cana Carocol Resort & Club, Katmandú Park, El Dorado Park and OPEXVI.
