SANTO DOMINGO, RD December 12, 2022.- The interim director general of the Dominican Institute of Civil Aviation (IDAC), Héctor Porcella, considers that the project proposed by President Luis Abinader on the Promotion and Competitiveness of National Civil Aviation is aimed at reducing the price of air tickets, accelerate tourism development and consolidate the country as one of the main aeronautical powers in the Americas.

Greeting Abinader’s announcement at the culmination of the Dominican Civil Aviation Week, Porcella maintains that the president is proposing to the Legislative Branch to establish legal and fiscal regulations to support the growth of the country’s aeronautical park, attract new investments and fulfill its promise to lower ticket prices.

The interim director general of IDAC highlighted that in the first two years of the current government, the Dominican Republic has already doubled its aeronautical fleet, is in the process of certifying another 7 airlines and has managed to substantially improve its air connectivity with the world.

He assured that the country will break all records for air operations this year, a fact that is reflected in the sustained growth in tourist arrivals, since for the first time in history the figure of 7 million visitors received at the terminals will be reached. international airports.

After pointing out that 2022 will be the best year in the history of aviation in the country, he stated that this feat would not have been possible without the support of President Luis Abinader, with his initiative to create the Tourism Cabinet, efficiently coordinated by the minister David Collado.
