Puerto Plata: Silver Airways to promote new link with Puerto Rico

Puerto Plata – Tourism entities in the northern region will promote the new Silver Airways route, which offers two weekly flights between San Juan and Puerto Plata.

To this end, the Puerto Plata Destination Tourism Cluster (CTDPP), the associations and hotels of the Puerto Plata destination, together with the Ministry of Tourism (Mitur), will hold a roadshow in the cities of Ponce and San Juan to encourage the promotion of the Dominican North Coast in Puerto Rico, on March 21 and 22, 2024.

Birgitt Heinsen, president of the CTDPP, announced that the action seeks to support the new route and that Blue Jack Tar, Amhsa Marina Hotels & Resorts, VH Hotels & Resorts, Viva Resort by Wyndham, Emotions by Hodelpa, Marien Puerto Plata and Hospitality Management Solutions will be participating in the activity.

“We understand it is essential to carry out promotional actions in this outbound market, since throughout history we have had a very close connection, both tourist and commercial with Puerto Rico,” he added.

He also said that “the presentations of the destination for travel agents, the plan includes an educational webinar and a fam trip, with the purpose of generating demand for the tourism proposals that we offer in Puerto Plata and the entire region.”

Heinsen expressed his gratitude to Mitur, the head of the Dominican Republic’s Tourism Promotion Office (OPT) in Puerto Rico, Aida Virginia Martínez, and Atahualpa Paulino of the Northern Regional Office for their integration in this and other initiatives that the private sector of Puerto Plata promotes to increase and sustain tourism.
