SkyHigh Dominicana launches Georgetown route with three flights per week
SkyHigh Dominicana launches three weekly flights connecting the Dominican Republic with British Guiana, starting February 18, 2024. This exciting new service will provide convenient and affordable travel options for business and leisure passengers.
The new routes, operated by a comfortable Embraer 190 with 97 seats (9 in Business Class, 88 in Economy Class), will offer direct connections between Santo Domingo’s Las Americas International Airport (SDQ) and Georgetown’s Cheddi Jagan International Airport (CJIA).
The aim is to boost tourism, trade and investment between the two nations, offering exciting opportunities for cultural exchange and economic growth.
This first flight departed from the José Francisco Peña Gómez International Airport at 10:00 a.m. and was received in English Guiana at 1:20 p.m., with the traditional Water Salute and ribbon cutting.
Welcoming remarks were given by Bishop Juan Edghill, Minister of Public Works “We are delighted to welcome SkyHigh Dominicana to Guyana’s aviation landscape. This new route aligns with our vision of fostering regional integration and creating a robust air transport network. We are confident that it will contribute significantly to increased tourism, trade and investment, further boosting Guyana’s development.”
The event was attended by the President of SkyHigh Dominicana, Juan Chamizo, the Vice President of SkyHigh Dominicana, Cesarina Beauchamps, the Commercial Manager SkyHigh Dominicana, Víctor Nina, Executive Director of Cheddi Jagan International Airport, Executive Director, Mr. Ramesh Ghir, President of the Chamber of Commerce of Guyana, Miguel Ángel González, Executive Director of the Guyana Chamber of Commerce, among other personalities in the sector.
“Today we celebrate a historic moment: the inaugural flight Santo Domingo – Georgetown, Guyana”; expressed the Commercial Director of SkyHigh Dominicana, Víctor Nina, while thanking on behalf of the airline, the valuable support received from His Excellency the President of Guyana, Mohamed Irfaan Ali, the Civil Aviation Authority of Guyana and the management and Cheddi Jagan International Airport staff.
“As we embark on this journey, it is essential to recognize the important role that Santo Domingo plays as a natural center of connectivity. With our 3 weekly flights Santo Domingo – Guyana, SkyHigh Dominicana not only offers new travel opportunities, but our operations complement the large number of airlines that converge in this important Hub. This new route strengthens commercial, social and cultural relations between both countries. It should be remembered that both countries have signed six memorandums of understanding to develop tourism, energy, agriculture and exports, turning this connectivity into another milestone with a view to developing and promoting these agreements,” he indicated.
Mr. Nina emphasized SkyHigh Dominicana’s enthusiasm and optimism for this initiative, ensuring that it will not only strengthen the ties between both nations but will also pave the way for a future full of unlimited opportunities.
“At SkyHigh Dominicana, safety on board and quality of service are our main priorities. “We are committed to maintaining the highest standards of safety and quality of service to guarantee the well-being and comfort of our passengers,” he expressed.
Regarding the schedule and frequency, it will leave on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays at 10:50 a.m. from Santo Domingo, arriving at 1:20 p.m. to English Guiana. From English Guiana it will depart at 2:20 p.m. arriving at 4:50 p.m. to Santo Domingo.
“The addition of SkyHigh Dominicana to CJIA’s airline portfolio demonstrates the growing confidence in Guyana’s aviation industry. This new route will provide passengers with more travel options, create employment opportunities and stimulate economic activity within the region,” Sanjeev Datadin, Chairman of the Board of Directors of CJIA.
