Spirit Is Adding Daily Nonstop Flights to Aruba

Low-cost carrier Spirit Airlines is undertaking a significant increase in service to the Dutch Caribbean island of Aruba, Caribbean Journal has learned.

Earlier this month, Spirit doubled its weekly flights between Fort Lauderdale and Aruba, from two flights to four.

Now, the carrier is operating Fort Lauderdale-Aruba roundtrip flights on Wednesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays.

But that’s just the beginning.

Next month, Spirit will expand again, increasing flights between Fort Lauderdale and Aruba to daily nonstop service.

Spirit will be operating the service on Airbus A321 aircraft with capacity for 228 people. The expansion will mean 1,140 additional seats to Aruba.

“The decision by Spirit to enhance its connection to the island is a testament to Aruba Airport’s ongoing commitment to fostering partnerships with airlines and continually expanding its global reach”, said Jo-Anne Meaux-Arends, Aviation Business Development Executive at the Aruba’s Queen Beatrix International Airport.

The enhanced service complements existing service from South Florida on American Airlines, which operates two daily flights between Miami and Aruba.
