Spring Means Calving Season at Oregon’s Longview Ranch

KIMBERLY, Ore.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–#LongviewRanch–Longview Ranch, located along Central Oregon’s historic Route 19 in Kimberly, maintains 30,000 stunning acres of diverse landscape.

Three years ago, Longview Ranch started cross-breeding its purebred Charolais bulls with Corriente horned cattle, creating a high-quality beef product. Starting in early Spring, the team at Longview Ranch leads its Charolais and Corriente cattle out to pasture, perfect timing for a due date in late November or early December.

With 725 Corriente horned mother cattle, about the same number of calves are born each year at Oregon’s Longview Ranch. Longview Ranch finds this type of cattle make great mothers and give birth to active, alert and hardy calves that weigh between 45 to 60 pounds at birth. Longview Ranch’s mother cattle also have milk content with very high protein.
