The G20 will address today the situation of tourism and climate change

The G20 will debate today on the situation of the tourism industry and global climate change. It is really relevant that both topics have been included in the two-day agenda. It shows the interest on the part of the leaders of the largest economies on the planet to find joint solutions on important issues.

Its members represent more than 80% of world GDP, 75% of world trade and 60% of the planet’s population.

The forum has met every year since 1999 and includes, since 2008, an annual Summit, with the participation of the respective Heads of State and Government.

In addition to the Summit, ministerial meetings, Sherpa meetings (responsible for conducting negotiations and generating consensus among leaders), working groups and special events are organized throughout the year.

Although this year the event is virtual, the venue for the event is Italy. Members present virtually are represented by authorities from Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, France, Germany, Japan, India, Indonesia, Italy, Mexico, Russia, South Africa, Saudi Arabia, South Korea, Turkey, United Kingdom , The United States, and the European Union. Spain is also invited as a permanent guest.

Every year, the Presidency invites the invited countries, who participate fully in the G20 exercise. Various international and regional organizations are also involved, giving the forum even broader representation.
