Tripadvisor: Americans Are Flocking to Cancun This Fall
Americans are flocking to Cancun on the Caribbean coast of Mexico this fall, according to a new report from travel giant Tripadvisor.
Cancun is the most popular place in the Caribbean among international destinations this fall, second to Paris among all destinations globally.
Around 74 percent of American travelers say they will be traveling this fall, above the 61 percent figure from the same time last year.
More than half of American travelers plan to travel more than they did last fall, particularly internationally; the share of international travel has surpassed pre-pandemic levels, a trend that has been increasing over the last few years, according to Tripadvisor.
“Our first-party data shows that travelers are still focused on the near-term, as most trips being booked right now are for one month out, and the vast majority for 2023,” said Alice Jong, research and insights senior analyst for media at Tripadvisor.
Three other Caribbean destinations were in the top 10: Punta Cana, Dominican Republic; Playa del Carmen, Mexico and Eagle Beach in Aruba.
