Former ambassador Brewster reaffirms support for tourism promotion in Puerto Plata

The former ambassador of the United States in the Dominican Republic, James “Wally” Brewster, held a meeting with members of the Puerto Plata Destination Tourism Cluster, with whom he discussed support initiatives for the promotion of the area and its attractions.

The diplomat shared his experiences and recommendations to promote the positioning of Puerto Plata and its destination brand. He considered that the province has particular attractions that can be potentiated to attract various niches.

He valued the implementation of the brand as an elementary factor to achieve the objectives of differentiation and authenticity. Likewise, he highlighted the importance of socializing it between the public and private sectors to develop a common plan that strengthens the perception of the destination in the United States.

Brewster reiterated his full support for all initiatives that promote sustainable tourism in the Northern Zone of the country and thanked the Cluster and its member institutions for the warm welcome they always received.

The breakfast was attended by César José de los Santos, president of the Playa Dorada Hotel Association, Birgitt Heinsen, president of the Tourism Cluster, and Ambra Attus, executive director. Also Manuel Finke, executive director of the Playa Dorada Hotel Association; Bernardita Abbott, corporate manager of Tourist Businesses of Banco Popular Dominicano in the North Zone, director of the Cluster, and Anny Mariel Gómez, of the institution’s Communications department.
