Santo Domingo Hotel Association to hold 9th SDQ Santo Domingo Golf Tournament
Santo Domingo – The Santo Domingo Hotel Association (AHSD) will hold the ninth edition of the “SDQ Santo Domingo Golf” tournament on Friday, July 14 at the Vistas Golf course in Santo Domingo.
The sporting event seeks to promote the golf offer in Santo Domingo and strengthen the links between the different allied organizations in the sector.
Yudit Gracia, president of the Hotel Association, highlighted that the activity is taking place at a time when the city has a positive balance, with a growth in tourist arrivals, hotel occupancy has improved and new hotel properties are entering the city.
This, he said, “urges us to continue working on strengthening the existing tourism offer, through a clear commitment to quality, diversification and the strengthening of public-private and private-private partnerships”.
He stressed that “the SDQ Santo Domingo Golf Tournament is an event in which golf lovers come together to enjoy a pleasant day in an atmosphere of excellent service, a reflection of the hospitality that characterizes the hotel industry and especially the hotels of the capital”.
He also added that the AHSD is pleased to promote this sport and publicize this proposal, due to its importance for the corporate market segment, the main source of business for the hotel industry in our city.
He noted that the competition is being held for the second consecutive year, and serves to promote it, at the “magnificent golf course, Vistas Golf, designed by the famed Greg Norman, certified by the USGA and suitable to host any PGA tournament, located a few minutes from the capital, with a design that blends in with nature and offers sporting challenges to players.
Tourism in the DR is at its best moment, García pointed out, considered number one in the Caribbean and at the top of international rankings in the tourism sector; in terms of results and growth projection and our capital city shares this excellent moment.
He praised the good performance of the Tourism Cabinet, the international promotion strategy, the work of MITUR and the commitment and leadership of Tourism Minister David Collado.
From the AHSD we add our contribution to this commitment, with promotional, commercial and training activities, with the aim of attracting tourism demand, strengthening the supply and image of the destination, concluded Yudit García.
Gina Eli, member of the AHSD Board of Directors, explained the details of the tournament. She explained that the technical direction will be in the hands of Michael Espino, sports and tourism events director.
She emphasized that the tournament will be played in the “Scramble” format in pairs. Registrations are open for the different categories and the tournament awards ceremony will be held at the golf course clubhouse, where players will enjoy a delicious meal with raffles and special prizes.

Vistas Golf Course Features
It has 18 holes designed by the famous Australian champion Greg Norman.
The course is covered with Bermuda Latitude 36 grass (fairways); Bermuda Tiff Eagle (greens). The Learning Center has a Putting Lab unique in the country, a Driving Range and a Short Game Practice Area.
