Horschel is champion of the Corales Puntacana Championship 2024
Punta Cana, La Altagracia, DR April 22, 2024.– North American Billy Horschel claimed his eighth victory on the PGA Tour, after triumphing in the seventh edition of the Corales Puntacana Championship that ended this Sunday. With his victory, Horschel earns 300 FedEx Cup points and prize money of US$720,000.00 of the US$4.0 million total event purse.
The professional golf player received his trophy in an awards ceremony headed by Frank Elías Rainieri, president and CEO of Grupo Puntacana; Frank Rainieri, founder and president of the Board of Grupo Puntacana; Stephen Cox, PGA TOUR umpire-in-chief; Francesca Rainieri, Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of Grupo Puntacana; Manuel Sajour, executive director of Grupo Puntacana; and Hiram Silfa, Director of Golf Courses at Puntacana Resort, in a historic tournament that concluded on the 18th hole of the Corales golf course.
Mr. Frank Rainieri presented the new champion with the traditional Corales hat and a Guayabera, insignia of the tournament.

I thank the fans, all the staff who worked on the tournament and the entire Rainieri family. “This will be a week that I will never forget,” said Horschel during the awards ceremony.
Don Frank Rainieri, Founder and Chairman of the Board of the Puntacana Group, and Frank Elías, presented the official tournament memorabilia, which consists of the champion’s traditional white chacabana and the Puntacana Resort hat. Frank Elías Rainieri formally presented the trophy.

Champion victory
The tournament was again characterized by being highly competitive throughout the weekend, with Wesley Bryan dominating the first three rounds of the tournament; while Horschel started his day two groups ahead, three behind the lead in fifth place, but an extraordinary game of 63 strokes (tournament record) ultimately gave him the victory.
The leader of the first three rounds, Wesley Bryan, was second, two strokes behind the leader after a round of 68. His second place alone gives him a prize of US$436,000.00.

The seventh edition of the Corales Puntacana Championship PGA TOUR was attended by thousands of spectators, who were able to tour the golf course and support their favorite players, as well as enjoy the different activities in the Sky Boxes, Special Guest and general areas .
The sold-out agenda during the week of April 15 to 21 included the event’s official press conference with the main executives of the PGA Tour and Grupo Puntacana, held on Tuesday the 16th at the Corales clubhouse. That same day, the welcome cocktail was held on the beach of The Westin Puntacana Resort & Club hotel, followed on Wednesday the 17th by the friendly tournament between professional and amateur players (PRO-AM) and the exciting concert by the Dominican singer Magic Juan el Friday the 19th, culminating with the awards ceremony.
